About Us

Welcome to Sobigfarm.com

I am John Christensen owner of So Big Farms and Hatchery. I operate So Big Farms and Hatchery with the help from my better half, Cindy Brown, and our pride and joy our granddaughter, Emma Lou. As you can tell, we are a small family-operated company that prides ourselves on high quality chicks and great customer service.

After 30 years in commercial construction, I had enough fun and decided to start a truck farm in Oxford Georgia, where we lived at the time, raising tomatoes, melons, corn and more. Our little farm became popular with the locals and was a success, but as it often happens in life, we were thrown a new challenge. We decided that we needed to move back to Cindy’s home state of Texas to be closer to her family and aging mother.

So, in 2011 we moved to Northeast Texas to the small town of Van which is located approximately 70 miles east of Dallas, Texas. After getting relocated and reestablished I decided to start raising chickens instead of produce, after all it had to be easier than vegetables!

One thing led to another, and I began hatching my own broiler chicks initially for myself. After a while, word got out that I was hatching broiler chicks. Other poultry growers asked if I would sell to them and the hatchery began.

In 2015 I made the switch to operating just the hatchery for broiler chicks and have not looked back sense. We now specialize in selling thousands of high-quality Ross broiler chicks per week to the pasture poultry and family farmstead grower every week, 52 weeks a year. We ship our chicks all over the Lower 48 and Alaska

Again, thank you for visiting us at SOBIGFARMS.COM and if you are looking for high quality chicks from folks that really care about being of service to you, please give us a try.
